Casting!

Image
I like to be able to be my own casting director.  There are certain actors and actresses that inspire me and make me wonder, how would this thesbian handle this role?  And thus a new character is born. It's easier to see my latest series - Eliza the Dimension Traveler Of course most of these people are from my favorite tv shows. I'm going to explain the cover, that's actually not Eliza aka Marlene, she's African American but it was really hard to find a cover that had a black female with the elements that I wanted.  I definitely wanted a crystal ball, so in the main picture is a character that Marlene aka  Eliza, meets in the second part of the series named Addison. But if this were to be a show or a movie or whatever, I'd choose the following as my cast even though, I realize that it's unlikely to happen. Marlene aka Eliza - Katerina Graham Prince David - I don't have a Prince David yet, I want to say Mark Sailling but he's not black - some

But I Did Everything Right Or So I Thought Blog

This isn't about anything in the media or what I regularly talk about here, but it's about something that's near and dear to my heart.  http://butidideverythingrightorsoithought.blogspot.com/ But I Did Everything Right Or So I Thought Blog. It's a perfect name, because it's something that's rang in my head for the past year and a half.  I went to school and got my degree in Communications and Technology and a minor in English.  Why?  Because I enjoyed it and I was good at it. I'm not saying that because I went to college that I should be guaranteed a job, but on a regular basis I wonder if I made the right decision.  I'm 24 years old and not working in the field of my choice.  Should I have gone about this another way?  But which way is that?  I would never have been able to apply for a job as a Public Relations Assistant or a Assistant to a Communications Director with only a high school diploma, I would lose against the person with the college

Code Name: Agent Madrid

Image
I like this cover a lot, that's why I'm sharing it with you before the story is even out.  Ha, sorry I just have a few things to work on, I've already been working on it since I got home (3/4 hours give or take a half hour) and if I sit in this chair too long I'll need a doctor to fix my back. But I found this great picture for the cover and thought it would be great it fits the new character to a tee and I think people will enjoy it.  So far 74 people have downloaded the story since I last checked and I'll tell you a little about Madrid. She is a socialite, who dabbles in fashion, acting, and perfumes but since this is an alternate reality no one pays her any mind, all the money goes to the teachers, the professors, and the doctors.  More academically inclined people.  In this reality, entertainment is looked down on as playing, music, art, and fashion aren't that important like it is in Marlene, the main character's world. Marlene is forced to meet M

Tessa and Scott: Ice Dancing Royalty

Yes, more Canadians, but this is related to the ice dancing of the Olympics.  At first I thought the Olympics were an annoyance and interruption from my tv shows until I saw Tessa and Scott and I have to say... Tessa and Scott are awesome.  Look at them. It's so ridiculous because they make it look so easy, lets just go out onto the ice and do this routine, like it's no problem.  Like Kourtney Kardashian just pulling out her baby like she was picking up a tomato at the supermarket.  I'll get to that later. But they just have so much poise and grace, it's incredible, it's amazing to watch them, I feel like time stops when they're dancing.  They're so cute.  And they're funny too... That was them at a Gala Performance. Great work they put the elegant Nutcracker music first and then Everybody Dance now together in the same program, it's so much fun to watch. I think I like them so much because they're young, I'm only two year

Anjulie: Boom!

Of course this album came out last year, but it's very rare that I can play a whole album all the way through and enjoy it without going running for the 'next' button when I certain song comes on.  Groups like, Zero 7, Ivy, and the singers Dido and Aaliyah have this affect on me.  Every song is dead on wonderful and Anjulie is one of them, hopefully it'll always be this way, will it Anjulie? First of all I really like her name.  That's it, it's a nice name. Second of all, I have a hobby of music hunting it started when Roswell was on, and I'd hear a song and run right over to the Roswell Music.net I think it was called and there it was.  At that time there was no itunes or digital downloads so I had to actually order the cd from Amazon and wait for it in the mail.  Waiting for The Crystal Method's Vegas was the longest one. But I digress, I first heard this song on Melrose Place when Lauren, it hurts a little that the prostitue on the show is named

Danger on Deltor (My First Free Escape 2 Earth Story)

Image
I've started a new novella, but it may be even shorter than a novella that features the warriors of Deltor, Lovo, Mallobo, Dajus and Trystan.  It'll be up soon and ready for your viewing pleasure. Maybe if you like it so much you'll buy the novella The Visions of Koto-Ryin. The Visions of Koto-Ryin www.laurenjohnson.me More later.  I'm into chapter three.

Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen

Image
Yesterday I saw Revenge of the Fallen the second Transformers movie.  The first one I thought was really good but I didn't like it as much as I love this move. It was great.  I really did miss Jazz, but I think that might have been because of that Robot Chicken spoof.   Transformers clip from here I couldn't even be pissed at the fact that Heery Casting did the well, casting for the extras in the movie and I really wanted to go and be in it but they didn't pick me.  I was an extra for a an unaired pilot but that was way back in Dec 07.  There's a video floating around out there of me somewhere, cuz I was right up front when they got the Verdict.  Which was the name of the show Verdict Link .  I was there for two days and it was freakin cold, but it was a pretty cool $90 to make.  I got to see Robin Givens. At any rate, sometimes I go through a couple of stinkers before I get to some really cool movies and after seeing the Count of Monte Cristo I thought I would r

Game plan for February/ March

I've already gotten quite a bit done since the start of the year. I've posted nine short stories to smashwords so far I've had 230 readers and that's not counting the other sites I've submitted to so, it's a start. I want to find a publisher for my dad's three books Escape 2 Earth Return 2 Earth Blackout he's working on Earth 2 now we thought we found one in Cherry Hill at a convention but we didn't hear from him again.  Which was strange since he seemed really interested they talked for a long time. At any rate, I want to write, it's something that I enjoy and no matter what I know I can do well and improve on.  I'll keep trying for as long as I can. www.laurenjohnson.me

Current Status

I'm grateful for the smashwords and kindle of the internet but even without them I'd still write.  I've been writing since I was in high school and I will continue to do so until I die.  I have thoughts swrilling around in my mind, I know not everyone will like it and I can only get better because no writer is perfect. But lately I've been feeling pretty down, I turned 24 last month and nothing has been the way I thought it would be.  I applied for a job at my own college and they didn't even see it fit to shoot me an e-mail to say no thanks.  The fact of the situation is I'm not doing what I want for a living, so I'll continue to do it for free.  I feel kinda like a Padawan, a really broke Padawan, in some murky ugly forest with a crazy old creature telling me to keep trying.  Sure Luke was tired and wanted to give up a bunch of times, and he was doing all of that Jedi training for free - he wasn't even getting paid. This city has a unemployment r

Supernatural Creator Eric Kripke Steps Back

Image
It's not quite like that. I mean I'm ecstatic that we're getting that sixth season, but what will happen? I don't know how I feel.  Sure people are saying that this gives him a chance to come up with another cool show for us to obsess over later, but at the same time I feel like he should still be around.  It's his show, and I feel like he should be there from start to finish. Now if he were to leave at the end of the Sam and Dean story and for them to try to continue on with new characters that Sera  Gamble and Ben Edlund created I would be okay with it.  But having said that, I don't think you can do Supernatural without Sam and Dean. I think I can guess on which certain ideas are Eric's and what aren't.  I'm with 90% certainty that Bela was not his idea.  And I'm pretty sure he did not mean to keep Ruby around for as long as she was.  Let me clear that up by saying that I didn't have a problem with Ruby (the character) she had a part

The Count of Monte Cristo

Image
I heard about this movie when it came to theaters when I was 16 years old, I wanted to go see it but didn't want to go by myself and no one I knew was interested in a revenge movie set in the 1800s.  So I waited for it to come to television and I actually forgot about it until recently when it came on Encore 8 years later, lol.  I was surprised to see Jim Caviezel again because I had never heard of him until I saw Frequency, a movie I saw only a few months ago.  Which is another one of my favorite movies. It's an awesome movie. Edmund is such a trusting naive character that's basically cookie dough at the beginning of the film, but by the time he got out of jail he was transformed into a slightly cold-hearted devlish manipulator.  Yes, he spent a lot of time in jail but that was to bring home the point that it was a long time and to hammer in how miserable and bitter he became. I felt his pain about Mercedes going to his ex-best friend and reason he was in jail fo

The Jersey Shore

Image
Yes, after fighting it for a very long time.  I ended up watching the Jersey Shore.  I know, it's against everything I try prove for young people.  That we're smart, responsible, young adults.  But Jersey Shore is the complete opposite. Body building and tweezing aside, I can't stop watching the show. You feel like you're reliving high school all over again but this time it's hilarious.  I felt the most for Snookie, she tries so hard and it was nice for everyone to accept her anyway.  They could have been like she's a freak, we're not going to talk to her get the heck out of here but they took her in - that's sweet. They really do remind me of school, they get into all these fights say these crazy things and then next time they're like, "Yeah, he got me good there.  Let's go party." I look at a show like the Jersey Shore like a comedy.  I really don't believe that Mike aka "The Situation" really thinks of himself

Winter Imagery

Image
The storm that hit the East Coast this past week made it really difficult to get around the city especially for the lazy people who just wanted to pull in and out of their parking spots without shoveling them.  But despite all the snow and inconvenience and issues I got some really cool pictures.  Here is my favorite shot.   No I did not make a snowman...a little girl across the street did it.  With a yellow beach pale no less.  I didn't think she was going to do it, but I saw her with the pale and by the time I got back home it was a freakin' snowman.  He doesn't have any arms but she did a great job for someone so little, lol. I thought that I could rotate this in the editor but can't, the street light should be right side up.  This is my walk way.  That tree there is being weighed down by the snow.   This is my favorite shot!  I will never ever ever get this shot ever again.  Not unless it snows again just like this, lol. Which I doubt.  I love this picture.

The Vampire Diaires

First I want to retract or correct my previous Vampire Diaires post.  I was confused about the crossover which really isn't a crossover.  The actors are crossing over not the shows.  So Nina on GG and Leighton on TVD. I like this idea a lot better than what I originally thought. Now on to tonight's Vampire Diaries. The crypt is finally open or openish...cracked.  The tomb is cracked.  It was a good episode, sometimes I've found myself watching an episode thinking, eehh, it's good but open the crypt, lol.  I like the dynamic between Damon and Elena I even made a video about it.  I can't wait until March and see what happens next now that at least two of these vampires are out of the tomb. Jasmine Guy, aw, that's my girl, it was such a sad ending I feel bad for Bonnie.  I fully expected Katerina Graham to mess up the scene because it's the CW and they have a knack for messing up a very important death scene but she did a really great job, I felt rea

Chuck vs The Angry Fans

Image
I love Chuck.  It's one of my favorite shows, it's one of the few shows that actually make me laugh out loud.  So when I saw a twitter post from Josh Schwartz about angry fans with bad ideas I was baffled.  I mean, to me, Chuck vs The Mask was a good episode, it won't win any awards, it isn't a masterpiece but I felt it was a funny and interesting episode.  The elephant on the internet is Chuck and Hannah and Sarah and Shaw.  What in the world indeed?  I'm not worried because Kristin and Brandon aren't staying.  I have a theory that either the both of them or double agents or at least one of them has a secret.  I think the  big issue is about the way that it was done, Sarah and Chuck broke up like five or six episodes ago and they're already with new people.  I can see Chuck doing this, but I didn't see Sarah doing this and with another spy at that!  I mean she burried Bryce, she broke up with Chuck and now she's with Shaw.  It's a bit much.

24 - What is going on? Who are these people?

Image
Freddie Prinze Jr. was barely in last Monday's ep.  - strike one 24 But Jack did get out of his car - okay I'll take back strike one Ugh, Renee - the strike is back I've been catching up on all of the seasons of 24 these past two weeks, no I wasn't watching them when the show first started since I was 16 and probably watching Roswell.  But my point is, I've noticed that the season always starts off slow and then it reveals a much bigger, badder, eviler plot. But I've never wished for them to just hurry up and get there before this season started. I always enjoyed the first couple of episodes, but between Renee depressing the hell out of me and me trying to figure out why I care about Jenny from the block aka Dana Walsh.  I think back to the good ol days of just last week (for me anyway) of when Jack's biggest problem was Nina finding him in the middle of the desert and President Palmer having to send the order to have him killed for peace. Those we

The Gossip Girl / Vampire Diaries Crossover Situation

Image
I like both Gossip Girl and the Vampire Diaries.  I have every season of Gossip Girl on dvd.  And once the Vampire Diaries comes to dvd I plan on doing the same. But it's not two shows I'd do a crossover with.  For two main reasons: a) it'll probably be overhyped for only five mintues of interaction between the characters from the different shows and not live up to the fans expectations b) they are two different shows gossip girl is a dramadey and the Vampire Diaries is a paranormal show. All of the characters are far too different.  That's not a bad thing, that's why I like both shows, for the diversity.  But the next time I'm watching Gossip Girl, I'm going to wonder why a vampire won't just crawl up and eat one of these characters. I really can't imagine Elena on the upper east side, maybe Katherine, but then she might kill everyone.  Do you see the issues here? I can't see Blair in the ficticious place of Mystic Falls, Virginia.
