Iron Fist Needed A Bro #Marvel #IronFist
I couldn't get past the second episode of Iron Fist at first. But then I watched the Defenders and I thought, well maybe I should go back and try again. And for whatever reason, it was easier to watch. It doesn't help that all I know about the Iron Fist is that he's rich and Luke Cage's friend. I grew up in the 90s and couldn't really afford comics like that so after I graduated high school I pretty much sat through Wikipedia and read a lot about the comics I couldn't buy haha.
Iron Fist wasn't one of them. I read about X-Men, Luke Cage, Batman, Spiderman, Daredevil, Superman, Wonder Woman, ect. So when I started to watch Jessica Jones, I really didn't know anything except she gets with Luke Cage and I didn't know a whole lot about her but I liked her and liked the series.
But Watching Iron Fist I just feel like they took it too far with him being taken away when he was a child. We get it, you know, he was a boy when he was taken away his social skills aren't up to par. But none of the heroes are. Luke Cage insulted Misty when they first met and it was funny but he can turn on and off how smooth he is. Jessica Jones never cared (even though she does) so when you see that she does care it pulls you in. Her relationships with Trish and Hogarth humanizes Jessica.
So Danny, I just feel like he needed a guy friend. Danny has Colleen and Joy two characters he mostly flirts with and wants to be a hero to. Then I guess Ward was supposed to have been his "friend" but Ward I couldn't hate Ward.
If I was running a huge corporation and my presumed dead childhood friend popped up out of no place and was even stranger than the last time I saw him I'd be grouchy and hard to deal with too. So did I empathize with Ward? I'm at episode 7 and I kind of do.
After I had this thought I ran into an article named The best character in 'Iron Fist' is neither a superhero nor a supervillain
"I'm the Iron Fist."
"What does that mean?"
"It means I never lose."
NO MORE TALKING LIKE THIS IN THE SECOND SEASON.
So when Defenders happened and Luke Cage and Iron First had their heart to heart in a kind of way I was like finally someone who is calling him on his weird bs mansplaining.
BUT having said all of that, it goes back to the writing. Follow me.
If Danny is someone who is socially stunted and is walking around with all the confidence in the world. It is going to take someone he respects, another male (eye roll) to get him to come down off his high horse a little. Luke Cage is perfect because he's strong and has values that Danny respects.
I just had a thought.
Could you imagine Luke Cage having the training of K'un-Lun? That would be cool.
This is just a pet peeve but it's really unrealistic for Colleen's hair to be that long. Just saying.
